The Calluna Vulgaris (aka Common Heather) was collected on Wednesday 8th July 2015 between Arisdale (60.521654, -1.121064) and Willa-Mina Hoga (60.548548, -1.122965). The latter is where Catalina Z2148 from 240 Squadron crashed on 19th January 1942 with the loss of seven of the ten man crew. This publication is not about that event. The genus name Calluna comes from the Greek Kallyno, meaning to sweep, and is a reference to the historical use of heather to make brooks. This publication is not about that. Callune Vulgaris is traditionally associated with luck, protection and solitude. This publication is not about that either.
