The Andrew Project book is the culmination of an anonymous public art intervention by London based artist, Shaan Syed. Carried out between 2010 and 2013, Syed fly-posted Toronto, Berlin and London with a simple portrait line drawing of a man, accompanied by the name Andrew. The book documents the graffiti and public interaction that resulted from the portraits appearing on the city streets. Including text and images by seven invited international artists and writers, a journalist and a branding consultant, The Andrew Project book explores ideas around urbanism and location; advertising, image and abstraction; absence versus presence and the personal versus the public. It became part of Banner Repeater's public archive through the project "Activating the Archive", drop-in Saturdays.
